Smile please. Please?
8 September 2012
One of the many joys I have as a school photographer is seeing a sad face of a very nervous primary school boy or girl transform into a most gorgeous expression. Some tried and tested techniques are always at hand to coax that grin – it’s not just a “say cheese!” (although that does sometimes work!). Look at the facts: you’re five years old and some strange* big person in a funny tie asks you to sit down and give them a nice smile. Yeah, right! I want my mommy! They put Winnie The Pooh on their head and before you know it they’re saying how good you were and you can go and sit with the rest of your class.
Child psychologists would be proud of us photographers!
*I’m not strange really. Not much, anyway!
