  • Smile please. Please?

One of the many joys I have as a school photographer is seeing a sad face of a very nervous primary school boy or girl transform into a most gorgeous expression. Some tried and tested techniques are always at hand to coax that grin – it’s not just a “say cheese!” (although that does sometimes work!). Look at the facts: you’re five years old and some strange* man in a funny tie asks you to sit down and give him a nice smile. Yeah, right! I want my mommy! He puts Winnie The Pooh on his head and before you know it he’s saying how good you were and you can go and sit with the rest of your class.

Child psychologists would be proud of us photographers!

*I’m not strange really. Not much, anyway.

  • A new season approaches

The term ‘back to school’ has been overused for quite a few years now, but I guess that people all want us to think about, and of course to buy, all the school gear now rather than waiting. This time of year to us is a time for reflection. As a lot of our work involves school portraits, August tends to slow down a little, giving us quality time to see where we have been, what we have been doing and what the way forward is. It’s because of this that we never get stagnant, never staying the same. Right now we are preparing for our busiest season yet as school photographers: new backgrounds, fresh poses, state of the art equipment. But our biggest strengths remain: quality, reliability, and good old-fashioned personal service.
